Organic Traditions Jumbo Pumpkin Seeds Recalled Over Salmonella Risk

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recalled Organic Traditions brand Jumbo Pumpkin Seeds due to potential Salmonella contamination. The impacted products include those in 227-gram and 454-gram packages. Consumers are advised to check for UPC codes 6 27733 00175 5 and 6 27733 00180 9, and lot numbers L250212160, L250319170 for the 227 g pack, and L250319171 for the 454 g pack.

Salmonella can cause serious health problems such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. At this time, no illnesses linked to the consumption of these seeds have been reported within Canada. The recall was initiated following an incident detected in another country.

This recall is conducted by Advantage Health Matters, and overseen by the CFIA in their food safety investigation. The classification of this recall falls under Class 2 and affects products distributed across Canada. Consumers who have bought this item are urged to dispose of it or return it for a refund.
