Oshawa Dispensary Closed After Police Seize $139,000 in Illegal Cannabis Products
An illegal cannabis dispensary in Oshawa was shut down in June following a joint operation by the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). According to police, officers seized illegal cannabis products valued at more than $139,000, along with a quantity of money and tobacco products. One person was arrested.
The closure is the result of an investigation started by the DRPS Central East Community Response Unit and the OPP-led Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET) in May 2025. According to police, the investigation focused on the dispensary identified as My Legacy Cannabis.
Police identified the person arrested as Jeffrey Donaldson, 51. According to police, he has been charged with offences under the Criminal Code and Cannabis Act, including possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, possession of illicit cannabis, trafficking in contraband tobacco, and possession of proceeds of crime. Police said Donaldson was released on an Undertaking. The charges have not been proven in court.
Police describe PJFCET as a joint force operation led by the OPP that includes members from the Niagara Regional Police Service, Durham Regional Police Service, London Police Service, Windsor Police Service, and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. According to police, PJFCET investigates and enforces laws relating to illegal cannabis activity, targeting those who operate outside the law.
All allegations have yet to be proven in court.
