Oshawa Man, 28, Charged After Human Trafficking Investigation, Police Say

A 28-year-old man from Oshawa faces several charges following a human trafficking investigation by the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS). Police allege the man coerced a young woman into the sex trade after meeting her through an online platform.

DRPS stated they are seeking assistance from the public to identify additional potential victims. Police have made a photo of the accused available on their website.

According to police, the Human Trafficking Unit began investigating on May 6, 2025, after receiving allegations of exploitation. Investigators determined that the accused and victim initially met and entered into a consensual relationship that police allege became exploitative. Police state the accused manipulated the victim, encouraged her to engage in sex acts for money, and took a portion of her earnings.

On May 21, 2025, the Human Trafficking Unit executed a search warrant at a residence near Richmond Street West and Prince Street in Oshawa. Police report the accused was arrested without incident. During the search, officers seized evidence related to human trafficking offences and more than five pounds of psilocybin, commonly known as magic mushrooms.

Police identified the accused as Alan Donaldson, age 28, of Oshawa. He has been charged with Trafficking in Persons, Material Benefits from Sexual Services, Procuring/Exercising Control, Advertising Sexual Services, Assault, Assault with a Weapon, and Possession of a Schedule 3 Substance for Trafficking. Police stated he was held for a bail hearing.

Anyone with information about this case or similar incidents is asked to contact the Human Trafficking Unit. Support is available for survivors through resources such as stopht.com and Victim Services of Durham Region. DRPS noted that these allegations have not been proven in court.
