Oshawa Man Arrested After Police Cruiser Incident
A 35-year-old man was arrested on August 23, 2025, in Oshawa after officers from Durham Regional Police Service's Central East Division investigated a domestic-related incident. The arrest occurred near King Street West and Stevenson Road South.
Police stated there was no threat to public safety during the incident. According to Durham Regional Police, the man armed himself with a knife and barricaded himself in the rear of a police cruiser as officers attempted to take him into custody. Additional officers attended the scene to help de-escalate the situation, and the man was safely taken into custody.
Police charged the Oshawa resident with four counts of failing to comply with an undertaking and two counts of breaching probation. He was held for a bail hearing. The man’s name has not been released by police to protect the identity of the victim. Police noted that all facts and circumstances related to the case are based on their investigation and that the allegations have not yet been proven in court.
