Oshawa Man Arrested and Charged After Human Trafficking Investigation

A 35-year-old Oshawa man was arrested and charged after a human trafficking investigation led by the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) Human Trafficking Unit. Police executed a search warrant at a residence in Oshawa on August 19, 2025. According to DRPS, the investigation began in early June and involved allegations that a young woman had been trafficked and transported to multiple countries.

Police have stated they believe there may be additional victims, and released the name and photograph of the accused in an effort to identify others who may have been victimized or possess relevant information.

During the search, police report seizing several items, including cellphones, travel documents, banking information, a quantity of drugs, and drug paraphernalia. The accused, identified by DRPS as Ramone Stewart, age 35, was taken into custody without incident and was held for a bail hearing.

According to police, Stewart is charged with trafficking in persons, material benefit from sexual services, procuring, withholding identity documents, exercising control, direction, or influence, and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Police note that the allegations against the accused have not been proven in court.
