Oshawa Man Charged After Two Shot Near John and Simcoe Streets
Police charged a 19-year-old Oshawa resident with several firearm offences after two males were shot in the area of John Street West and Simcoe Street South in Oshawa on May 14, 2025, according to Durham Regional Police Service.
The incident left an 18-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the hip and a 16-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the leg. Police stated that both victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Officers responded to a report of an armed person at approximately 7:10 p.m. and found the 18-year-old at the scene. Shortly after, a local hospital notified police of the second victim.
Police reported that the suspect fled before officers arrived but was located around 7:25 p.m. at a nearby construction site, where he was arrested without incident.
Durham Regional Police identified the suspect as Yosef AHMED, 19, of Oshawa. He faces multiple charges, including two counts of aggravated assault, three counts of discharging a firearm with intent to endanger life, three counts of assault with a weapon, three counts of pointing a firearm, possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon knowing no authority, and carrying a concealed weapon.
