Oshawa Woman Arrested, Male Suspect Sought in Human Trafficking Investigation
A 46-year-old woman from Oshawa has been arrested and a male suspect is wanted following a human trafficking investigation by the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS). Police allege a young woman was coerced into the sex trade over several weeks beginning in February 2025 after meeting the suspects in Oshawa.
DRPS has stated a concern that there may be additional victims and is seeking assistance from the public in locating the male suspect. According to police, the Human Trafficking Unit is continuing to investigate and support individuals affected by this case in Oshawa.
According to DRPS, the Human Trafficking Unit launched its investigation on May 1, 2025, after receiving allegations involving the exploitation of a female victim. Investigators determined that the victim initially met the suspects in Oshawa in February 2025. Police report that the female suspect coerced the victim to engage in sexual acts for money. Both a female and a male suspect were identified, and arrest warrants were issued for both individuals.
Officers attended an address near Bond Street East and Ritson Road North in Oshawa on July 3, 2025, in response to a disturbance call. Police state that the female suspect, Tina Baker, age 46, of Oshawa, was located and arrested without incident. She has been charged with several offences, including trafficking in persons, forcible confinement, material benefits from sexual services, procuring or exercising control, extortion, assault, and robbery. Baker was held for a bail hearing, according to police.
Police have identified the male suspect as Yvenord Hyacinthe, age 43, of Oshawa. He is wanted for multiple offences, including assault, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, robbery, extortion, and procuring. DRPS has released photographs of both accused and is asking anyone with information regarding Hyacinthe’s whereabouts to contact them. According to police, anyone with information related to this case or who may have been victimized in a similar manner is asked to contact the Human Trafficking Unit at DRPS. Police advise that all allegations remain unproven until tested in court.
