Outdoor Skating Rink Construction Begins in Newcastle

Construction has started on a new outdoor refrigerated skating rink at the Diane Hamre Recreation Complex in Newcastle, Clarington. The municipal government of Clarington is overseeing the development of the skating rink, which will feature a refrigerated ice surface, rubber skate matting, and seating.

Additional features include lighting for nighttime use, a gas fire pit, and a warming room. These amenities are designed to enhance the rink's functionality and visitor experience.

According to the municipal government, the rink is expected to be operational this winter. The project is similar to the existing outdoor rink in Courtice, providing residents another recreational option in Newcastle.
