Over 500 Clarington Residents Attend Mayor & Council BBQ at Orono Park

On Sunday, August 24, 2025, more than 500 residents gathered at Orono Park in Clarington for the first Mayor & Council BBQ, according to the Municipality. The event featured food, games, and activities for families throughout the afternoon.

Municipal officials stated that the event was organized following community discussions as part of Clarington’s 2024-27 Strategic Plan. The gathering aimed to give residents an opportunity to meet Council members outside of formal meetings.

Attendees participated in a BBQ lunch, inflatable bouncy castles, swimming in the outdoor pool, games, and a scavenger hunt for children, according to the Municipality. Volunteers from the Newcastle Lions Club operated the grill, and sponsorship was provided by Metro, Loblaws, and Foodland. Local organizations such as Marigold Hospice Care, Orono Crown Lands, the Clarington Fire Department, and Orono Library staff were present at the event.

Mayor Adrian Foster stated that the BBQ was intended to create opportunities for residents to connect with Council members. The Municipality also announced that formal Council meetings are set to resume in September 2025.
