Overnight water shutdown planned on Kingston Road East in Ajax May 11–12, 2026
Durham Region plans to temporarily shut down water service overnight on Kingston Road East (Regional Highway 2) in Ajax, from Harwood Avenue (Regional Road 44) to Trott Lane, from about 5 p.m. on May 11, 2026, to about 8 a.m. on May 12, 2026.
The interruption could affect homes and businesses along the affected stretch of Kingston Road East between Harwood Avenue and Trott Lane. Durham Region says it will notify impacted residents and businesses directly.
According to the region, the shutdown is to allow a final water connection for a new watermain along Kingston Road East. Durham Region said a temporary shutdown is required to complete the connection safely.
The region says the work is part of construction on the second segment of the Durham-Scarborough Bus Rapid Transit project.
After service is restored, Durham Region is asking residents to run a cold-water tap for about five minutes. The region said this helps clear sediment from household water lines and keeps it out of hot-water systems.
Drivers are asked to use caution around work crews.
