Paws & Claus Nighttime Edition set for Dec. 23 at Jungle Cat World in Orono

Jungle Cat World Wildlife Park in Orono will host the Nighttime Edition of Paws & Claus on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025, from 4 to 8 p.m., at 3667 Concession Road 6. Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for teens and seniors, and $10 for children; children under 3 are free. Tickets are available online via the municipal events calendar.

The evening event combines holiday activities with opportunities to see animals outdoors in winter and includes a food drive for local families. It provides a local, seasonal outing in Orono during the holiday period.

Planned activities include carolling, storytelling, and visits with Santa. Letter writing to the North Pole is part of the program.

Refreshments include free hot chocolate and apple cider. A bonfire with free marshmallows is planned on site.

An indoor holiday vendor market will operate during the program. Live musical performances are also scheduled.

Attendees will be able to view the park’s animals as part of the evening program.

A separate Daytime Edition took place on Sunday, Nov. 30, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Ontario Tech named ‘Most Sustainably Improved’ in 2025 UI GreenMetric; receives Durham Region sustainability award

Ontario Tech University in Oshawa was named Most Sustainably Improved University in the 2025 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings and also received a sustainability award from the Region of Durham, the university announced December 19. UI GreenMetric evaluates universities worldwide on environmental performance, infrastructure and sustainability initiatives. The regional award
