Police Arrest Man After Attempted Break-In at Uxbridge Residence

A 50-year-old man has been arrested after an attempted break-in at a residence in Uxbridge, according to Durham Regional Police. Police said officers responded to a report of a break-and-enter in progress at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, in the area of Regional Highway 47 and Goodwood Road.

Durham Regional Police stated that the suspect attempted to enter a home, causing extensive damage to the exterior of the house and several vehicles in the driveway. The residents were home during the incident, but no physical injuries were reported, police said.

According to Durham Regional Police, the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived but was identified shortly after. The man was arrested without incident by members of the North Community Response Unit, police stated.

Police identified the suspect as Brian Maschke, 50, of Toronto. Maschke is charged with break-and-enter dwelling house with intent, four counts of mischief/damage property over $5,000, uttering threats, failing to comply with an undertaking, and disobeying a lawful order of the court, according to police. Police said he was held for a bail hearing.
