Police Ask for Information After Early Morning Whitby Shooting
Police responded to a report of shots fired at a home near Maria Street and Annes Street in Whitby on Monday, July 21, 2025, at around 7:10 a.m., according to the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).
According to police, residents were inside the home at the time of the shooting. No physical injuries were reported. Officers found multiple shell casings on the scene, and bullet holes were discovered in the front door.
The Central West Criminal Investigations Branch has asked anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have video footage—including dashcam or home surveillance—from the area between Gilbert Street West and Newman Crescent, from Annes Street to Frances Street, during the time frame of 12:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. on July 21, to contact police.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Stuart of the Central West Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1847. The DRPS states that anonymous tips can be provided to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca, and tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
