Police Ask Public to Help Identify Man Critically Injured in Ajax E-Scooter Crash

A man is unconscious and in critical condition after a single-vehicle e-scooter collision on Kitney Drive, north of Clements Road West in Ajax, according to Durham Regional Police. The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

Police are requesting help from the public to identify the man, who was not carrying any identification at the time of the collision. Identifying the individual is necessary for notifying his family and for ongoing medical care coordination.

According to police, the man was riding a Segway Ninebot Kick Scooter Max G2 northbound along the east side of the roadway when he lost control and fell, striking his head. Police stated he was not wearing a helmet and suffered a serious head injury. He was transported in life-threatening condition to a local hospital before being airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre, where he remains unconscious and in critical condition.

Durham Regional Police describe the man as white, between 45 and 60 years old, about 6 feet tall, and approximately 220 pounds. He has a bald head and a scruffy grey beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing dark green corduroy shorts, prescription glasses, a faded black baseball hat with “Pinewood Toronto Studios” on the front, and black Reebok sneakers with white soles and red accents.

Members of the Durham Regional Police Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and continue to investigate the collision.

Police request that anyone with information about the collision or the identity of the man contact Detective Constable Colin Hoevenaars of the Collision Investigation Unit. Police said anonymous tips can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers, and tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
