Police Identify Suspect in Pickering Shooting That Left Two Seriously Injured
Police have identified a 33-year-old man, Mahiban Perinbanathan of Bradford, as the suspect wanted in connection with a shooting in Pickering that resulted in two people being hospitalized with serious injuries. The incident occurred on Saturday, August 16, 2025, around 1:10 a.m. in a parking lot near Liverpool Road and Kingston Road, according to the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).
The DRPS stated that officers from West Division responded to reports of gunshots at the location and found two individuals with gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a trauma centre in Toronto.
Police have listed multiple charges against the suspect, including two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, and discharge of a firearm with intent to wound. According to police, Perinbanathan is considered armed and dangerous.
The DRPS advises anyone who sees the suspect not to approach him and to call 9-1-1 immediately. Police ask that anyone with information about the incident contact the West Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1905. Information can also be submitted anonymously to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers.
