Police say Oshawa parent charged after vehicle driven through G.L. Roberts CVI grounds

A 31-year-old Oshawa man has been charged after a vehicle was driven through the parking lot and sports field at G.L. Roberts Collegiate Vocational Institute in Oshawa on Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, at about 3:40 p.m., according to the Durham Regional Police Service. No injuries were reported.

DRPS said the vehicle was seen driving dangerously toward students before leaving along an adjacent waterfront trail.

At about 3:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the school after reports of dangerous driving on school property, DRPS said.

Police said members of the Central East Division attended the area and located debris from the vehicle nearby.

According to police, the driver was identified as the parent of a student at G.L. Roberts CVI.

Police said he drove through the property after learning his child had been involved in an altercation with other students.

Officers went to the suspect’s residence and took him into custody without incident, police said.

DRPS listed the charges as Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance and Assault with a Weapon.

Police said he was released on an Undertaking.

DRPS said the identity of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the student. Police did not release the accused’s name for that reason.

DRPS published the advisory on Sept. 23 and directed information about the case to the Central East Division Criminal Investigations Branch. Police asked anyone with information about the incident to contact investigators or submit an anonymous tip.
