Police Seek Public Assistance After Bullet Strikes Whitby Home

A bullet entered a residence near Prince of Wales Drive and Regal Briar Street in Whitby at around 11:25 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, according to the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS). Police said the residents were home at the time but no injuries were reported.

The incident is under investigation. The DRPS reported finding evidence that the firearm was discharged from the greenspace east of Prince of Wales Drive.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have video evidence—such as dashcam or home surveillance footage—from the area to contact investigators. They are specifically interested in footage from the area between Prince of Wales Drive and Scott Street, and between Dundas Street East and Manning Road, between 11:15 p.m. and 11:40 p.m. on July 1.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Detective Bacon of the Central West Criminal Investigations Branch. Anonymous tips can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers, and individuals providing information may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
