Police Seek Suspect After Counterfeit Bills Reported at Ajax Best Buy

On April 2, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m., officers from Durham Regional Police West Division responded to a report of fraud in progress at the Best Buy located at 20 Kingston Road West in Ajax. According to police, a male suspect attempted to make a purchase using counterfeit Canadian $20 bills. The store employee became suspicious after noticing the unusual texture of the bills and that all bills showed the same serial number. The suspect left before officers arrived, leaving behind $240 in counterfeit bills.

Police have released a description of the suspect. He is described as a male, Middle Eastern, between 20 and 25 years old, of medium build, approximately 6'0" tall, with dark hair, a moustache, and a goatee. According to the information provided, he was wearing a grey tracksuit, white shoes, and was carrying a black side bag at the time of the incident.
