Police Seek Witnesses After Attempted Home Invasion in Ajax
Durham Regional Police Service has requested the public's assistance after an attempted home invasion occurred on Darley Street in Ajax at about 9:05 a.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2025. According to police, officers responded to a call regarding suspicious persons in the area of Church Street North and Kingston Road West.
The request for information is part of police efforts to identify and locate those involved. This incident may be relevant to those living or working near Darley Street and Kearney Drive, particularly anyone who may have witnessed unusual activity or captured video footage during the morning of August 7.
Police report that a caller observed two males wearing medical masks sitting in a dark-colored vehicle in front of a residence on Darley Street. Before officers arrived, both individuals exited the vehicle—one carrying a baseball bat, the other with bear spray—and ran toward a homeowner who was standing outside. The homeowner ran inside and called police. Police state that one of the males kicked the inside entrance door before leaving the area.
Officers searched the neighbourhood but did not find the suspects. As of August 8, police said investigators believe this was an isolated incident.
Anyone with video footage, including dashcam recordings, from the area of Kearney Drive and Darley Street between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on August 7 is asked to contact police.
