Police Seeking Suspect After Reported Robbery in Pickering

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) is seeking a suspect following a reported street-level robbery in Pickering on Monday, July 7, 2025. According to police, officers from West Division responded at about 8:00 p.m. to the area of Marinet Crescent and Hillcrest Road.

Police said the incident began when the victim had arranged to meet a potential buyer for a piece of jewelry listed on Facebook Marketplace. During the meeting, the suspect provided the victim with an envelope in exchange for the jewelry. The victim handed over the item before discovering that the envelope was empty. When confronted, police stated that the suspect showed a handgun and left in a dark coloured vehicle.

DRPS reported that no physical injuries occurred. The suspect is described by police as a Black male, between 18 and 20 years old, about 5 feet 7 inches in height, with a skinny build.
