Recall Issued for Sea Horse Easy Peel Shrimp in Quebec Due to Undeclared Sulphites
Sea Horse brand Easy Peel Shrimp, in 908-gram packages, has been recalled in Quebec after Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) testing found undeclared sulphites in the product.
The recall announcement, released by the CFIA on July 12, 2025, advises that individuals allergic or sensitive to sulphites should not consume the affected shrimp. According to the agency, sulphites may cause serious or life-threatening reactions for those with allergies.
The recalled shrimp can be identified by its packaging: Sea Horse brand Easy Peel Shrimp, 908 grams, with a UPC of 8 32365 00187 9 and a best before date of February 17, 2026. The recalling firm is Soline Trading Ltd.
The CFIA stated that no reactions associated with consumption of the product have been reported to date. The agency is conducting a food safety investigation, which could result in additional recalls if necessary. The CFIA said it is verifying that industry is removing the recalled products from the marketplace.
Consumers who have purchased the shrimp are advised by the CFIA to throw the product out or return it to the place of purchase. The recall is classified as a Class 1 food recall warning.
