Region of Durham Schedules ID and Benefits Access Hub Events at Local Libraries
The Region of Durham will hold ID and Benefits Access Hub events at several local libraries in October and November. According to the Region, these events will include representatives from Service Canada, Service Ontario, local banks, and community organizations. One of the sessions is scheduled at the Clarington Library, Museums & Archives – Bowmanville Library on October 8 from 1 to 6 p.m.
According to the Region, these events are organized to allow residents to access government and community services in a single location. The Region states that attendees can find out about available benefits, obtain or replace government identification, and access other community supports.
The Region reports that there will be information about more than 40 income-related benefits available in Ontario. The Region also states that residents can receive assistance getting or replacing documents such as Social Insurance Numbers, birth certificates, health cards, photo ID, and renewing a driver’s licence. The Region notes that families with children born in 2004 or later and with modest incomes could receive up to $2,000 per child in an RESP for post-secondary education savings.
