Regional Chair’s Classic Raises $268,000 for Durham Student and Mental Health Programs

The 27th annual Regional Chair’s Classic took place on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Deer Creek Golf and Country Club in Ajax, raising $268,000 for student and mental health programs in Durham Region, according to event organizers.

Event organizers stated that 184 participants—including community leaders, sponsors, and golfers—took part in the charity golf tournament, which is held in memory of former Durham Regional Chair Roger Anderson.

Organizers said proceeds from this year’s event will benefit students at Ontario Tech University and Durham College, as well as patient-focused programs at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences. Since the tournament’s inception, organizers report it has raised over $8 million for these causes.

Regional Chair John Henry, in a statement released by event organizers, said each year the tournament supports students in need at Ontario Tech University and Durham College, and youth programs at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences. Henry added that the event honours the legacy of Roger Anderson by gathering the community to support these causes.
