Road Closures Scheduled for Canada Day Events in Bowmanville and Newcastle

Several roads in Bowmanville and Newcastle will be closed on July 1 for Canada Day celebrations, according to the Municipality of Clarington. Events in these communities will include entertainment, activities, and fireworks.

The scheduled closures will allow for community gatherings and festivities in both Bowmanville and Newcastle. Residents planning to attend are advised to note the specific locations and times for each event and road closure.

In Bowmanville, Canada Day celebrations will be held at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex, 2440 Highway 2, from 5 to 10 p.m. Fireworks are set to take place at 10 p.m. The following Bowmanville roads will be closed:

  • Brookhill Boulevard, between Green Road and Clarington Boulevard, from 9 a.m. to midnight.
  • Clarington Boulevard, between Stevens Road and Brookhill Boulevard, from 9 a.m. to midnight.
  • Stevens Road, between Clarington Boulevard and Bowmanville Avenue, from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Limited access to Uptown Avenue during the event.

For Newcastle, downtown events will feature a street festival from noon to 6 p.m., with vendors, artisans, live music, and fireworks at dusk. Newcastle's road closures are as follows:

  • Mill Street North, from King Avenue to Wilmot Street, from 10 a.m. on June 30 to 8 p.m. on July 1.
  • King Avenue, from Baldwin Street to Brookhouse Drive, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on July 1.
