Scugog Resident Charged Following Online Child Luring Investigation
A 36-year-old Scugog man was arrested by members of the Durham Regional Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit on July 3, 2025, following an investigation into alleged online child luring.
The case concerns a man who, according to police, believed he was communicating online with a 14-year-old girl. Police state that he sent sexually explicit messages and offered to pick up the individual to engage in sexual acts. The suspect reportedly used the online usernames “SingleDad” and “dalton_fwb.” Officers executed a search warrant at his address in Scugog, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Police identified the man as Nicolas Frangini, age 36, of Scugog. According to Durham Regional Police, Frangini has been charged with luring a person under 16 by means of telecommunication for the purpose of facilitating the commission of sexual assault. He is also charged with luring a person under 16 by means of telecommunication for the purpose of facilitating the commission of sexual interference. Additionally, he faces a charge of luring a person under 18 by means of telecommunication for the purpose of facilitating the commission of making child pornography. Police further charged him with making sexually explicit material available to a child under 18 for the purpose of facilitating the commission of making child pornography.
Frangini was held for a bail hearing. Durham Regional Police expressed concern that there may be other victims and are asking anyone with information about this or similar incidents to come forward.
The investigation received assistance from the Canadian National and Ontario Provincial Strategies to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet, with funding provided by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General. Police note that these allegations have yet to be proven in court.
