Seven Students Receive Major Entrance Scholarships from Ontario Tech University for 2025-2026

Seven incoming students have received major entrance scholarships from Ontario Tech University for the 2025-2026 academic year, according to a university announcement. The awards recognize achievement in academics, leadership, and community involvement among secondary school students beginning their studies at the Oshawa-based institution.

The university reports that scholarships are distributed across five categories, with values ranging from $12,000 to $120,000. Among this year’s recipients are twin brothers Cyrus and Tyrus Tsui from Markham. Cyrus was awarded one of the two President’s Scholarships, while Tyrus received one of the two Founder’s Scholarships.

The full list of recipients and their awards, as provided by Ontario Tech University, is as follows:

  • Chancellor’s Scholarship ($36,000): Marisa Pirrera of Stoney Creek, entering Medical Laboratory Science.
  • President’s Scholarships ($30,000 each): Yusuf Patel of Markham, entering Health Sciences; Cyrus Tsui of Markham, entering Biological Science and Co-op.
  • Founder’s Scholarships ($24,000 each): Tyrus Tsui of Markham, entering Biological Science Co-op; Aditdi Senthil Kumar of Whitby, entering Criminology and Justice.
  • FIRST Robotics Canada Scholarship ($12,000): William Bellerby of Mississauga, entering Automotive Engineering and Co-op.
  • Global Leadership Award ($120,000): Marie Ange Nishimwe Ingabire of Musanze, Rwanda, entering Chemistry and Co-op.

Recipients come from several locations including Stoney Creek, Markham, Whitby, Mississauga, and Musanze, Rwanda. Eligible students for these scholarships are beginning studies in programs such as Health Sciences, Biological Science, Criminology and Justice, Automotive Engineering, and Chemistry.
