Simcoe Street North closed in both directions between Aberdeen and Connaught in Oshawa after watermain break
Simcoe Street North in Oshawa is closed in both directions between Aberdeen Street and Connaught Street because of a watermain break, Durham Region said. The closure began Jan. 18 and is in place until further notice.
The closure may affect people who live or operate businesses nearby. Durham Region said residents and businesses in the area may experience temporary water service interruptions or reduced water pressure while repairs are underway.
Durham Region said the lanes will remain closed until the repair is complete.
After water service returns to normal, Durham Region advised customers to run cold water for about five to 10 minutes to flush out sediment that may have built up in the water service. The region said this can help prevent sediment from entering hot-water systems.
Durham Region asked drivers to exercise caution in the area for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
