Street Clock Unveiled at Clarington Town Hall for Rotary Club of Bowmanville’s 100th Year

A vintage-style street clock was unveiled outside Clarington Town Hall, at the corner of Temperance Street and Church Street, on June 3, 2025. The Rotary Club of Bowmanville donated the clock to mark its 100 years of service.

The clock’s installation coincides with the restoration of Veterans' Square and serves as a commemorative addition recognizing the Rotary Club’s centennial, according to the Municipality of Clarington.

Mayor Adrian Foster, council members, municipal staff, and representatives from the Rotary Club attended the unveiling. Mayor Foster expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club for the donation, describing it as a way to honour the community.

Doug Sirrs, president of the Rotary Club of Bowmanville, said, “The Rotary Club of Bowmanville is proud to donate this commemorative street clock to the Municipality of Clarington. The timing couldn’t have been better, as it aligns perfectly with the restoration of Veterans' Square. As we reflect on a century of service, we are energized by the future and remain committed to supporting and serving our community for the next 100 years.”

The Rotary Club of Bowmanville was established in 1924 and uses the motto, “Service Above Self.” The street clock, inspired by Victorian-era post clocks, is now a permanent fixture at Clarington Town Hall.
