Suspect Arrested Following Pickering Shooting that Injured Two
A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred in Pickering on August 16, 2025, according to the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS). The incident took place in a parking lot near Liverpool Road and Kingston Road at approximately 1:10 a.m. Two individuals were found at the scene with gunshot wounds and were transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries, police said.
The charges laid in this case include two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a licence or registration, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, and discharge of a firearm with intent to wound. Police identified the suspect as Mahiban Perinbanathan of Bradford.
DRPS noted that officers from West Division responded to reports of shots fired at the incident location. Upon arrival, officers found the two victims and arranged for their transportation to hospital. No further information has been released regarding the circumstances of the shooting or the identities of those injured.
