Tentative Transit Agreement Reached Between Durham Region Transit and Unifor Local 222

Durham Region Transit and Unifor Local 222 have reached a tentative agreement, according to an announcement from the Regional Municipality of Durham. The agreement remains subject to a ratification vote by Unifor Local 222 members, who represent operators, maintenance staff, customer service representatives, and other personnel.

According to the announcement, regular Durham Region Transit (DRT) services will continue to operate as scheduled while the ratification process is underway. Previously planned contingency service changes for the evening of Friday, June 6, 2025, will not be implemented, based on the same announcement.

The agreement covers all eight municipalities served by DRT. The next step in the process is a vote on the tentative agreement by Unifor Local 222 members. If the agreement is approved by union members, it will proceed to the Durham Regional Transit Commission for final approval. The announcement did not provide dates for the ratification vote or for commission consideration.
