Thirteen Officers Graduate from Durham Regional Police Service in Ajax

On May 20, 2025, thirteen new officers graduated from the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) during a ceremony in Ajax. The event included performances by the DRPS Pipes and Drums and the DRPS Choir, with family and friends present.

The DRPS stated that the ceremony marked the recruits' completion of training. The new officers will now begin the next phase of their training with coach officers and will be assigned to various platoons throughout Durham Region over the coming months.

Deputy Chief Chris Kirkpatrick welcomed the graduates and presented each officer with a badge. The recruits recited their Declaration of Membership. Constable Kevin Schoch, the class valedictorian, delivered thanks on behalf of the class, recognizing family support during training.

According to the DRPS, Constable Benjamin Kerr received the Allan D. Christiansen Memorial Award, which is peer-voted and acknowledges leadership, a positive outlook, commitment to personal fitness, and dedication to volunteerism.
