Three People Arrested in Connection with Bowmanville Shooting, Police Report

Three people have been arrested in relation to a shooting in Bowmanville in June 2024, according to the Durham Regional Police Service.

Police stated that the incident occurred shortly after midnight on June 2, 2024, near Concession Street East and Mearns Avenue in Bowmanville. Officers found a 25-year-old man, a 25-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man at the scene, all with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

The Durham Regional Police Service identified the arrested individuals as Rocco Trentadue, 23, of Clarington; Jarrett Barbara, 22, of Oshawa; and Dylan Heinola, 23, of Clarington. According to police, Trentadue faces charges including discharge firearm with intent to wound, possess loaded regulated firearm, and possess restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence or registration certificate. Barbara is charged with possess loaded regulated firearm and possess restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence or registration certificate. Heinola faces charges including discharge firearm with intent to wound, possess loaded regulated firearm, possess restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence or registration certificate, and possess Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Police reported that all three were held for a bail hearing. The Durham Regional Police Service noted that all allegations have yet to be proven in court.
