Toronto High School Team Finalists at NASA HUNCH Program with Support from Ontario Tech
A team of six students from Victoria Park Collegiate Institute in Toronto became the first Canadian high school team to reach the finalist stage of the NASA HUNCH program, according to Ontario Tech University. The team presented at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, on April 8, 2025.
Ontario Tech University reported that the Mitch and Leslie Frazer Faculty of Education supported the Toronto District School Board team as it participated in the NASA HUNCH program, a project-based educational competition. The students presented their Lunar Ejecting Robot Prototype to astronauts and NASA staff during the Final Design Showcase, delivering a Critical Design Review that included a detailed cost breakdown.
Dr. Amanda Cooper, Dean of the Mitch and Leslie Frazer Faculty of Education, stated, “We’re proud to support their academic journeys and celebrate their achievements in the NASA HUNCH program, which showcases the power of real-world learning and the importance of STEM education for the next generation.”
The announcement did not include further details about the outcome of the competition or any future plans for the Lunar Ejecting Robot Prototype.
