Toronto Students Named Finalists at NASA HUNCH Program in Houston

A team of six students from Victoria Park Collegiate Institute in Toronto were finalists at the NASA HUNCH program at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, on April 8, 2025, according to Ontario Tech University. Supported by the Mitch and Leslie Frazer Faculty of Education, the students presented a Lunar Ejecting Robot Prototype to astronauts and NASA staff during the program's Final Design Showcase, which included a Critical Design Review and a detailed cost breakdown.

Ontario Tech University stated that this is the first time a Canadian high school team has become a finalist in the NASA HUNCH initiative, which is described by the university as a project-based educational program held at the NASA Johnson Space Center.

Dr. Amanda Cooper, Dean of the Mitch and Leslie Frazer Faculty of Education, said, “These students exemplify the passion, creativity, and drive that will shape the future. We’re proud to support their academic journeys and celebrate their achievements in the NASA HUNCH program, which showcases the power of real-world learning and the importance of STEM education for the next generation.”
