Triforest Completes $10 Million Expansion of Ajax Manufacturing Plant
A $10 million expansion of the Triforest manufacturing plant in Ajax has been completed, according to a joint announcement from Invest Durham and the Town of Ajax’s Business Engagement and Supports Team. Trial production at the expanded facility began in June, with full operations starting this month, according to the announcement. The project is expected to create more than 80 full-time jobs and generate $100 million in annual output, as stated in the official release.
The announcement provides new economic details relevant to Ajax residents. The addition of jobs and manufacturing capacity may have a direct impact on the local community and workforce.
The expansion adds four new stone plastic composite (SPC) flooring production lines at the Ajax plant. According to the announcement, the Ajax site became Triforest's first North American production facility when it opened in 2023.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the expansion was held on July 23, 2025, at the Ajax facility, attended by Regional Chair John Henry, members of Ajax Council, and Triforest executives, as stated in the release. The four new production lines have now been installed and commissioned.
According to information provided in the announcement, Triforest manufactures laminate and SPC vinyl flooring products, as well as MDF/HDF panel boards. The announcement also states that Triforest has secured hundreds of containers of orders from the United States for products manufactured at the Ajax facility, despite ongoing U.S. trade challenges and tariff concerns cited by the company.
Invest Durham, the Town of Ajax, and Triforest jointly credited collaboration among their organizations for bringing the expansion project to completion, according to their official statement.
