Two Arrested Following Firearm Incident in Whitby

On November 1, 2024, at approximately 9:20 p.m., officers from the Central West Division responded to a report of an armed individual in Whitby. The incident occurred near Brock Street North and Rossland Road East. A victim reported being followed home by a male in a red GMC SUV from a shopping plaza. Upon reaching his driveway, the victim noticed the suspect pointing a handgun from the passenger window before fleeing the scene.

Police quickly identified the vehicle and suspects. Using drones, they located the vehicle at a residence near Centre Street North and Rossland Road East. A search warrant was executed by the Central West Criminal Investigations Bureau and the Tactical Support Unit, leading to the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of multiple firearms and ammunition.

Anthony Maguire, 27, of Whitby, faces charges including pointing a firearm, possession of weapons dangerous, possessing firearms without a license, careless handling of ammunition, and occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm.

Zachary Cousineau, 26, also of Whitby, is charged with possessing firearms without a license, careless handling of ammunition, and possessing a firearm while prohibited.

Both individuals were held for bail hearings.
