Two Men Arrested in Connection with Ajax Shooting on Commercial Avenue
Two men have been arrested in connection with a shooting that took place in Ajax on July 6, 2025, according to the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS). Police state the incident occurred at approximately 10:20 p.m. near Commercial Avenue and Hunt Street, where officers responded to a call of an armed person and located a man with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries.
The DRPS identified those arrested as James McDonald, 39, of Oshawa, and Logan Cameron, 35, of no fixed address. According to police, McDonald is charged with aggravated assault, use firearm–commit indictable offence, possess firearm while prohibited, point a firearm, discharge firearm–intent to wound, disguise with intent, and possess weapon dangerous to public peace. Cameron is charged with aggravated assault, occupy motor vehicle with firearm, and disguise with intent. Police say both individuals were held for bail hearings.
Police noted that the allegations against the accused have not been proven in court. In the original release on July 7, 2025, police reported they were searching for three suspects after the shooting took place.
