Two Teenage Girls Arrested in Oshawa Pizza Restaurant Assault; Police Seek Additional Suspects
Durham Regional Police arrested two teenage girls after an early morning assault at a Pizza Pizza restaurant at 199 Wentworth Street West in Oshawa on July 2, 2025. Police have identified additional suspects and say the investigation is ongoing.
The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. when police say one individual jumped behind the restaurant counter and attempted to take an item. According to police, the victim confronted this person and a violent struggle resulted. Several others then also went behind the counter; police report the group swarmed and assaulted the victim.
A 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl have been charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm. Police have issued a warrant for a 13-year-old boy wanted for Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Obstruct Police, and Fail to Comply with a Release Order. An 11-year-old boy has also been identified as a suspect, but police note he cannot be charged due to his age.
Police are seeking help to identify a fourth suspect, described as a Black female aged 12 to 15, with a thin build and long braids. She was last seen wearing a grey t-shirt, grey spandex pants, and black sandals, according to investigators.
Durham Regional Police stated there is no evidence at this stage to indicate that hate was an aggravating factor in the assault. Police clarified that under the Criminal Code of Canada, hate crime is not a stand-alone charge. Determining whether hate played a role requires consultation with the Crown Attorney’s Office and, if established, it may be considered during sentencing, possibly resulting in a higher penalty.
Police ask anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the fourth suspect to contact Detective Baldini of the Central East Criminal Investigations Branch. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers.
