Two Toronto residents charged after DRPS human trafficking investigation

Two Toronto residents were arrested Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, after a Durham Regional Police Service Human Trafficking Unit investigation that began in July, police said. Both were held for a bail hearing and face multiple charges.

DRPS said investigators believe there may be additional victims and released photos of the accused. Police asked anyone with information to contact the Human Trafficking Unit or Crime Stoppers.

According to DRPS, the suspects recruited a female victim through social media by offering a luxury lifestyle.

Police allege the victim’s movements were tracked and she was forced to meet a weekly cash quota.

DRPS said the suspects withheld the victim’s identification documents and transported her to multiple locations across Ontario before she fled and contacted police.

The investigation concluded Sept. 18, when search warrants were executed at multiple locations and the suspects were taken into custody without incident, DRPS said.

Police identified the accused as Weyyon Brown, 38, of Toronto. According to DRPS, he is charged with trafficking in persons, withholding identity documents, receiving a material benefit, procuring, exercising control, direction or influence, criminal harassment, and forgery.

DRPS said Eve Adam, 26, of Toronto, is charged with receiving a material benefit, procuring, exercising control, direction or influence, and criminal harassment.

DRPS said a support network for survivors of human trafficking is available in Durham Region. Victim Services of Durham Region offers free, confidential support.
