Virtual Meeting Scheduled for Input on Outdoor Spaces at Former Ritson School Site in Oshawa
Residents may take part in a virtual community engagement session about plans for outdoor spaces at the former Ritson School site, according to the Region of Durham. The meeting is scheduled for August 12, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. via Zoom, and will focus on collecting public input about the property at 300 Ritson Road South in Oshawa.
The session is intended for community members to ask questions and share ideas that, according to the Region, will help inform the design of outdoor areas next to the school building. The Region stated that feedback will assist in shaping public spaces at the site.
According to the Region of Durham, the Ritson School Project includes restoring and reusing the historic school building to serve as a community hub, with plans to develop affordable and market rental housing on currently vacant portions of the property. The Region purchased the former elementary school from the Durham District School Board in 2022.
A recording of the virtual meeting will be available on the project website for those unable to attend. More information about the project can be found at durham.ca/RitsonSchool.
