Water outage affects part of Ajax; repairs expected by late afternoon Friday, May 8
A water service interruption in Ajax is affecting an area from Kingston Road East (Regional Highway 2) south to Mandrake Street, between Harwood Road and Salem Road, with watermain repairs expected to be completed by late afternoon Friday, May 8, according to Durham Region.
The outage may affect household water use and traffic in the immediate area while work is underway. Durham Region said construction activity in the area affected the water supply, and the interruption expanded beyond the area first anticipated because of conditions encountered during the work.
Durham Region reported that repairs were underway Friday and crews were working to restore service.
After water service is restored, residents are advised to turn on a cold-water tap and let it run for about five minutes. Durham Region said flushing the line is meant to clear sediment that may have accumulated in the water service and to help prevent sediment from entering hot-water systems.
Drivers are asked to use caution in the area while crews work, Durham Region said.
