Weekday peak-hour left turns to be restricted at Harmony Road South and Tennyson Avenue in Oshawa
The Regional Municipality of Durham will install weekday peak-hour left-turn restrictions at the intersection of Harmony Road South (Regional Road 33) and Tennyson Avenue in Oshawa starting in late January.
The change affects drivers who use the intersection during busy commuting times, when two left-turn movements will be restricted on weekdays.
According to Durham Region’s notice, the restrictions will be in effect Monday to Friday from 6 to 9 a.m. and from 3 to 7 p.m.
The restricted turns are the northbound left turn from Harmony Road South onto Tennyson Avenue, and the eastbound left turn from Tennyson Avenue onto Harmony Road South.
Durham Region said the restrictions are intended to reduce collisions and improve road safety at the intersection.
The region said unfavourable weather conditions may affect the work schedule.
The notice also states the initiative is being made in support of Durham Vision Zero, which the region describes as a long-term plan for a safer transportation system. More information is available at durham.ca/VisionZero.
