Whitby Resident Charged in Major Fentanyl Seizure

A 19-year-old male from Whitby has been charged following a drug investigation by the Durham Regional Police Service. The investigation, conducted by the Gun and Gang Unit, culminated in the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Whitby on October 17, 2024. During the search, police seized over 1.8 kilograms of fentanyl, with an estimated street value of $360,000.

The suspect, identified as Nathaniel Darnell McEwan, was apprehended in Pickering while in his vehicle. He faces charges of possessing a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, specifically fentanyl. McEwan was held for a bail hearing.

The police have requested that anyone with information related to this incident contact the Gun and Gang Unit. Additionally, anonymous tips can be provided to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers, with potential eligibility for a cash reward.

The allegations against McEwan have not yet been proven in court.
