Whitby Waste Management Centre Sales Office to close June 1 for about two weeks

The Waste Management Centre Sales Office at 4600 Garrard Rd. in Whitby will close June 1 for about two weeks while on-site construction is completed, Durham Region says.

The closure affects residents who normally visit the counter to buy or exchange common waste items, including green bins, kitchen containers and bag tags.

Durham Region said the office is closing so construction work can be completed safely.

During the closure, in-person purchases or exchanges for green bins, kitchen containers and bag tags will not be available.

Residents can buy green bins, kitchen containers, backyard composters and bag tags online at durham.ca/NewBins, and can exchange green bins and kitchen containers there as well, according to the region.

Bad weather could delay the reopening.

Durham Region also noted that Circular Materials manages Ontario’s Blue Box program, including new and replacement blue boxes, rather than the Waste Management Centre Sales Office.
