Youth Charged After Firearm Incident at Oshawa Centre; Police Seek Information

A 17-year-old male from Toronto has been charged following an incident involving a firearm at the Oshawa Centre on October 7, 2024, according to the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).

The police report that the event occurred around 7:20 p.m. at the south end of the mall, where officers were called after a male was seen pointing a firearm at a group of individuals. The suspect left the area on foot after the incident, police stated.

In April 2025, officers obtained a search warrant for a residence in Toronto as part of the ongoing investigation. According to police, the suspect was in custody on an unrelated issue when a Judge’s Order authorized additional charges in this case.

According to the DRPS, the youth is now charged with Pointing a Firearm, Possess Weapons Dangerous, and Failing to Comply with Release Order.

Police state that the information is based on their investigation and that the allegations have not been proven in court.
