Captain’s Choice Shredded Coconut Recalled Due to Salmonella Risk
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announced on June 7, 2024, that Fraser Valley Meats is recalling Captain’s Choice brand Frozen Shredded Coconut - Sweetened due to possible Salmonella contamination.
According to the CFIA, the recall applies to Captain’s Choice Frozen Shredded Coconut - Sweetened that has been sold in the marketplace. The agency advises consumers not to use, sell, serve, or distribute the recalled product. The CFIA stated that the recall was initiated based on its test results and that, as of the announcement, there had been no reported illnesses associated with this product.
Consumers are advised by the CFIA to check their homes for recalled items and to either dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase. The CFIA continues to monitor the effectiveness of the recall.
