CFIA recalls certain Farm Boy, Life Smart and L’Ancêtre organic cheeses over possible Listeria
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a food recall warning on Oct. 14, 2026, for certain Farm Boy, Life Smart and L’Ancêtre organic cheeses because of possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The products were distributed nationally, and the recalling firm is Fromagerie L’Ancêtre Inc.
For residents, the recall matters because Listeria contamination may not be obvious: CFIA says affected food may not look or smell spoiled but can still cause illness. The agency says people should not consume, use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled products.
Affected products (by size, UPC and best-before date) include:

CFIA testing triggered the recall. No illnesses have been reported.
CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation and says other products could be recalled. The agency says it is also verifying recalled products are being removed from stores.
CFIA says symptoms of listeriosis can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness. Pregnant women, older adults and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk, CFIA says. In pregnancy, the agency says infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or stillbirth. In severe cases, CFIA says listeriosis can be fatal.
The recall is listed as Class 1 under identification number RA-82779.
