Check It Out: Veterans' Square Reopening Ceremony in Bowmanville

The Veterans' Square in Bowmanville is set to reopen with a commemorative ceremony on October 15, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. The event is organized by Clarington in collaboration with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 178. The renovated square now includes five flag poles, raised gardens, accessible seating, paved pathways, a service animal relief area, and several mobility device charging stations.

The ceremony will feature several activities including the Marching of the Troops, a Welcome and Land Acknowledgement, Call to Worship and Invocation, The Lord’s Prayer, Last Post followed by two minutes of silence, Lament, Act of Remembrance and Reveille, remarks by dignitaries and on behalf of Veterans, Benediction, and the Placing of Wreaths.

To facilitate the event, Temperance Street will be closed from King Street to Church Street from noon to approximately 2:00 p.m. on the day of the ceremony. Metered parking will be available on nearby streets, and additional parking can be found in municipal lots.
