Clarington library’s Counting Week dates listed as Oct. 20–26, but webpage references both 2025 and 2026
Clarington Library, Museums & Archives says its “Counting Week” for the province’s annual library survey runs Tuesday, Oct. 20 to Monday, Oct. 26, but a webpage announcing the dates contains conflicting references to 2025 and 2026.
Counting Week is tied to Ontario Public Libraries Annual Survey Week, when libraries across Ontario track activity and submit statistics to the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming.
Clarington Library, Museums & Archives says the information it sends to the ministry is anonymous. The library’s post lists circulation of materials (including books, magazines, movies and eBooks) and in-library materials use among the items being tracked.
It also includes use of eResources and database searches, public computer and WiFi use, reference inquiries, library visits (walk-in and electronic) and social media impressions.
The post lists activities such as borrowing items, registering for a library card, attending programs, using digital services and visiting museum exhibits.
The year is unclear because the webpage contains conflicting references: the page header reads “Counting Week 2025,” while the web address includes “counting-week-2026.”
The post says the ministry asks libraries to measure activity during a typical week in October or November for the annual survey.
