Clarington mayor says Courtice soccer player Allysha Chapman retiring from international play after 100 games for Canada

Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster said in a written statement posted Oct. 13 that Courtice soccer player Allysha Chapman is retiring from international soccer after representing Canada in 100 games.

Chapman has been a longtime member of Canada’s women’s national team, and the mayor’s statement is the municipality’s public acknowledgement of her international career.

In the statement on the Municipality of Clarington website, Foster described Chapman as a defender from Courtice and said she competed in the FIFA Women’s World Cup and won Olympic medals.

Foster did not provide a date for Chapman’s retirement or details about her decision beyond saying it follows her 100th appearance for Canada.

The post was published on Clarington’s website under “Community News” and attributed to “Mayor’s Statement.”
